Brief project description
The project "Bridging Worlds: Communicating Compatibility of Science and Religion in the post-Soviet Context" aims to evaluate the level of mutual understanding among the communities of scientists and religious believers in Latvia with a particular focus on scientists who are also religious believers. It also aims to increase this mutual understanding and the self-understanding of scientist-believers by developing a number of resources for the science-religion dialogue in the form of in-person events at a level accessible to the general public.
The events will be recorded and made available on the internet. Besides communicating the compatibility of science and religion, the activities will identify collaborators for future work in the field as well as provide a sense of the demand for more in-depth development of these ideas. The foundation for dialogue will be the common aim to discover the truth about our world and the conviction that faith and reason have something to contribute to the search for truth.
Who might find this project interesting?
Anyone who has questions about science or religion or their mutual relationship can benefit from this project. The lectures are aimed at a broad audience. No prior knowledge is required. The hope is to stimulate new ideas and encourage discussion.
